Updating Earlier Software Versions

(Versions 7.3.5 and earlier)

  1. Confirm your Maintenance Subscription
    Determine your subscription's Expiry Date:
    • Version 7.0.1 or Later:
      • Enter your License Key on this page and click Upgrade/Renew. If your subscription is expired, renew it before you continue to the steps below.
    • Version 6.4.13 or Earlier:
      • Ensure the new upgrade version was released (release dates) before that expiry.
  2. Double-Check Requirements
  3. Run the installer
Starting with your current version, follow the steps on the migration path until you reach the desired version. Note: Make a backup between each installation (see the step above).
    • Versions 5.1 and older:
    • Versions 5.1.1 - 6.2.1:
    • Version 6.2.2 - 6.4.12:
    • Version 6.4.13:
      • If you have a 20 character license key (like RE3P9F52KXKYSWTED4OR), then:
      • Otherwise, Convert your license key:
        1. Get your product key - from the confirmation email (you received after your original purchase)
          • Note: If that's inaccessible look on your server, copy the contents of this file:
          • %WINDIR%\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\IsolatedStorage\RANDOM_DIR_NAME\RANDOM_DIR_NAME\RANDOM_DIR_NAME\AssemFiles\KeyFile.txt
        2. Paste the key into the field marked Old Key on this page, then click Upgrade
        3. Copy the new key that appears; you'll need to enter into from the License tab after you upgrade. This key is also sent to the email address that was supplied when your company first purchased Password Server.
        4. If your key conversion fails, contact us
    • Versions 7.0.1 - 7.3.5:
      • Create a backup
      • Install: Version 7.3.7
        • Note:
          • Monitor progress by watching log file details. If for any reason there is a delay with no progress for an hour, do this: Stop, Uninstall the Old Version, Reboot your server, then re-try the install.
      • If you have users imported from AD/LDAP, update them within Password Server:
        • Navigate to Users and Roles >   Manage Directories > Click the Actions button > Select Update users and roles
      • If you skip this step, some users may not be migrated:
    • Version 7.3.7:
      • Continue on to: Stable / Latest versions

        • Before Installing: some Enterprise customers using version 7.3.7 with LDAP/AD integrations have noticed a slow-down in performance after upgrading. We encourage customers to first test this update before installing in their production environment. We are working to resolve this issue.
